How it all began…
After GCSEs, Oliver studied Electronic engineering and Ben studied Aerospace Engineering. To earn money, they both took labouring jobs for a local Plasterer during weekends and summer holidays. Over time, they learnt the trade and quickly realised they could make more money plastering than working in electronics or Aerospace!
The owner of the plastering company moved overseas and Oliver & Ben soon found they were in great demand. Their work brought them into contact with local trades and building companies. After seeing how other companies operated, they thought “we can do better than that”. So they saved for a deposit, formed Wigg Developments and in Dec 2006 bought their first house in Alconbury Weston with a plan to extend and renovate it.
This, their first project was sold before it went on the market at 10% more than the anticipated asking price.
They built their first new build in the garden of a renovation in Sawston in 2008.
The firm continued to buy, extend and renovate then, in 2013 acquired a plot of land in Sawston and built a beautiful terrace of 3 x 3 bedroom houses. They all sold quickly and set records for the area due mainly to the beautiful reclaimed bricks, superb quality and hand-made kitchens plus many other bespoke & hand-made features.
The success of Brookfield Villas was the catalyst needed to go on and build their latest project – the ARKs at Barton.
A small, highly select development of two top end properties in the unspoilt village of Barton on the outskirts of Cambridge. Described by the local property magazines as probably “the finest homes to be built anywhere in or around Cambridge”
